Employment:
ARISE recognizes the significant role of employment in successful re-entry for returning citizens. We strive to support our clients by helping them find employment opportunities that are both suitable and sustainable. We understand that financial support for housing is not the only need that returning citizens face. Many require additional funds for basic necessities such as food, transportation, and other reintegration costs, including retribution payments and parole fees. By offering employment support, we aim to help individuals secure their first employment opportunity in order to stabilize their financial situation and support their families as they reintegrate into their communities.
We also offer immediate employment with ARISE. ARISE Landscaping & General Maintenance offers immediate employment opportunities, job skill training, and support for entrepreneurship. We have clear expectations for employees and provide immediate fair market value compensation to generate income. Our program also assists individuals in applying for long-term employment while working with us for a period of 6 weeks. After this initial period, participants are free to seek other employment, although they can choose to stay on if they enjoy the work. We offer flexibility for interviews and allow time off for such purposes. Additionally, we provide employer references and offer a Work Evaluation Program, which includes feedback on performance, areas of improvement, and mentoring or training opportunities to support personal growth.

Housing:
According to Zillow.com the average rent in Charlotte, NC is $1,995. Returning citizens often face significant challenges in securing employment or affordable rental housing upon their return to the community. ARISE is dedicated to addressing the housing challenges faced by returning citizens and the ongoing affordable housing crisis in Charlotte, while simultaneously creating new avenues for income and value for local homeowners. To achieve this, we are introducing an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) program. ADUs are housing units comprising 1-2 bedrooms constructed above a garage or on a slab surface. Our objective is to rent out these ADU bedrooms at an affordable rate, enabling us to recoup the investment within 7 years and providing homeowners with a supplementary income source. In addition, ARISE will facilitate training and skill development for returning citizens, empowering them with the expertise to construct these units. They will be compensated with a livable wage, thereby contributing to their employment prospects and overall growth.
Currently, ARISE has successfully rehabilitated one dwelling to accommodate returning citizens. Our goal is to elevate that number to two by the close of 2023, and to grow substantially thereafter.
